[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nTSX-VN: \"MEX\" \n\nTORONTO, March 2 /CNW/ - Kim Harris, Chief Executive Officer, Midlands\nMinerals Corporation (\"Midlands\" or the \"Company\") is pleased to announce\nresults from the Mobil Metal Ions \"MMI\" geochemical soil sampling survey done\nat the Itilima property located in Lake Victoria Goldfields in Tanzania. The\nsurvey covers Prospecting Licence (PL) 2043, the eastern part of the Itilima\nproperty.\nResults reveal discovery of a geochemical gold anomalous area located\n5 km east of Itilima artisanal site where previous exploration work was\nconcentrated. This new soil anomalous area increases the number of drill\ntargets on the Itilima property. The MMI survey was carried out in the last\nquarter of 2005 on Prospecting Licence 2043 to evaluate the gold potential\nnear felsic quartz eyes intrusives discovered by Midlands during earlier\nproperty mapping on the property.\nThe technical program was designed and supervised by Marc Boisvert,\nP. Eng. The program consisted of \"Mobile Metal Ion\" (MMI) geochemical soil\nsampling over an 18 km2 area of the licence PL 2043 and was carried out as a\nreconnaissance survey to evaluate the gold endowment of the area.\nThe reconnaissance survey collected 609 samples including 17 field\nduplicates to check field and laboratory procedures. The sampling was\nconducted at 400 meter line spacing and 80 metre intervals. Samples were\nprepared at the SGS laboratories in Mwanza, Tanzania and shipped to the\nSGS Laboratory in Canada for analysis of gold plus four pathfinder elements\n(Co, Ni, Pb, Ag) using the \"Mobile Metal Ions\" (MMI-B5) procedure.\nResults in MMI surveys are reported as ratios of a site gold value to the\nvalue of the 25th percentile of the survey population. The 25th percentile is\nconsidered a low background. Ratios above the 75th percentile are the high\nbackground. The threshold is set at the 90th percentile. Anomalous results are\nin the 95th to 97.5 percentile range. Highly anomalous results are above the\n97.5% percentile.\nClick here for map:\nwww.midlandsminerals.com/press_releases/images/itilima_PL2043.pdf\nThe distribution of gold ratio values is delineating a 2 km by 3 km area\nforming a cluster of high percentile gold ration values above the\n75 percentile. Within the cluster envelope, 2 areas of anomalous gold ratio\nvalues above 90 percent...
