[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nTSX-VN: \"MEX\"\n\nTORONTO, May 24 /CNW/ - Kim Harris, Chief Executive Officer, Midlands\nMinerals Corporation (\"Midlands\" or the \"Company\") is pleased to announce the\nemergence of an anomalous gold zone on the Kwahu Praso Property, 30 kilometres\nnortheast of Newmont Mining Company's +8 million oz Akyem gold deposit.\nGeochemical soil results on the Company's Kwahu Praso property in Ghana\nshow two anomalous areas on strike with the adjacent Sian Goldfields Esaase\nOpen Pit Gold Mine, indicating there is good potential for a carbonate-silica\nflooding alteration with gold bearing sulphides and quartz veinlets on the\nKwahu Praso property, similar to Sian's Esaase gold mine and Newmont's Akyem\ndeposit.\n\"This is very good news. We are particularly encouraged by the potential\nfor a large gold system which could connect Kwahu Praso structures to those on\nthe Sian property. The Company intends to accelerate its exploration\nactivities on the Kwahu Praso property\", said Kim Harris.\nWork on the Kwahu Praso is expected to begin in June 2006 with drilling\nplanned for the last quarter of 2006. Initial work will focus on detailing\nboth reconnaissance soil anomalies using a combination of different soil\nsampling techniques and will include induced polarisation geophysical surveys\n(IP) to outline the anomalous sources and drill those targets.\n\nwww.midlandsminerals.com/press_releases/images/kwahusoilsamplingmap.pdf\nClick here to view the mapping of the gold soil sampling results.\n\nFieldwork was conducted in March and April 2006. 395 samples were\ncollected, including 45 duplicates for quality control checks on field and\nlaboratory procedures. The sampling was conducted at 800 metre line spacing\nand 400 metre intervals. Samples were prepared and analysed at SGS\nLaboratories in Tarkwa, Ghana using Fire Assay, and the values were determined\nby the Atomic Absorption (FAE505AuR) procedure. The program was supervised by\na Qualified Person, Marc Boisvert, P.Eng. The NI 43-101 Technical Report will\nbe filed on www.sedar.com within the next few days.\nThere are higher gold values ranging from 103 Au ppb to 770 Au ppb and\nthese form lineaments, suggesting parallel trends oriented 020 degrees-200\ndegrees. The trends are interpreted as the geochemical signatures of gold\nbearing structures. Two of these are on stri...
