[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nAIM: KEFI 30 April 2010\n\n KEFI Minerals Plc \n\n (\"KEFI Minerals\" or the \"Company\") \n\n RESULTS OF DRILLING AT BAKIR TEPE PROJECT, TURKEY \n\nKEFI Minerals, an AIM-quoted gold and copper exploration company with projects\nin Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, announces the results from the\ndiamond drilling programme undertaken recently at the Bakir Tepe Project in\nsouthwest Turkey. The programme was designed to test for Cyprus-style\nvolcanic-hosted massive sulphide (\"VHMS\") deposits at Bakir Tepe.\nUnfortunately, drilling did not intercept encouraging grades of mineralisation.\n\nThe drill programme was funded by joint-venture partner Centerra Gold, which\nhas the right to earn a 51% interest in the project upon contributing\nUS$750,000 to the joint venture. KEFI Minerals is the manager of the joint\nventure.\n\nThe drillholes primarily targeted an induced polarisation (\"IP\") chargeability\nanomaly located in a stratigraphic position classical for hosting conductive\nVHMS ore deposits, which is also interpreted to be located down-dip of\nmineralisation identified at surface. Rock chip sampling returned assays up to\n3.6% copper, 4.6g/t gold, and 67g/t silver. Geological mapping identified\npossible pillow basalts beneath a sequence of haematitic, cherty mudstones and\nradiolarian cherts. The potential position for a VHMS deposit is interpreted to\nbe at the interface between the pillow basalt unit and the overlying sediments,\nand/or within the upper levels of the pillow basalt unit itself.\n\nA total of four diamond holes (KBTD01-04) were completed for an aggregate of\n1,078m of core. Drillhole KBT01, drilled in the central part of the main IP\nanomaly, was stopped short before intersecting the interpreted centre of the IP\nanomaly at 161m due to adverse ground conditions. The remaining holes were\ndrilled east and south of hole KBT01. The drilling intersected a sequence of\nsheared and brecciated, weakly serpentinised, basaltic flows with generally\nnarrow intercalations of haematitic mudstone and rare blocks of silicified\nlimestone. The volcano-sedimentary sequence is cut by dolerite dykes. No\nsignificant alteration or sulphide mineralisation was encountered. The\nanalytical results from the core samples submitted for assay have failed to\nreturn significant levels of gold, silver or base metal anoma...
