About this update from Kefi Gold And Copper Plc
[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nAIM: KEFI 19 February 2010\n\n KEFI Minerals Plc \n\n (\"KEFI Minerals\" or the \"Company\") \n\n DRILLING RESULTS AT ARTVIN PROJECT, TURKEY \n\nKEFI Minerals, an AIM-quoted gold and copper exploration company with projects\nin Turkey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is pleased to announce the assay\nresults from its recently completed diamond drilling programme at the Company's\nArtvin Project located in the Eastern Pontide Belt in northeastern Turkey.\n\nThe Artvin Project is a joint venture with a subsidiary of Centerra Gold Inc.\n(\"Centerra\"), which is currently funding exploration in order to earn up to 70%\nof the Artvin Project upon expenditure of US$6m. KEFI Minerals is the manager\nof the joint venture.\n\nThe objective of the 2009 drilling programme was to further test at the Yanikli\nProspect, the extensive alteration system, with coincident gold, silver and\nbase metals geochemical anomalism; and a large (1,250m x 800m) induced\npolarisation (\"IP\") chargeability anomaly.\n\nAll four diamond drillholes totalling 1,125m intersected wide intervals of\nstrongly propyllitic- to phyllic-altered andesitic volcanic rocks with\nwidespread disseminated and vein-style pyrite +/- lesser\nsphalerite-galena-chalcopyrite mineralisation. Anomalous assays include 1.95m \nat 0.64g/t Au and 25.2g/t Ag from 137m. Hole AYDD007 returned 1.3m at 2.26% Cu \nfrom 301.8m and 1.6m at 1.61% Zn from 213m. Hole AYDD008.returned the widest\nzone of anomalous zinc mineralisation viz. 67m at 0.25% Zn from 88m, including\n2m at 1.12% Zn from 124m. The chargeability anomaly is explained by the high\nlevels of alteration-related pyrite in the host andesitic to dacitic volcanic\nrocks.\n\nThe style of alteration and mineralisation suggests that the property has\npotential for volcanogenic massive sulphide copper-zinc deposits and\nporphyry-style copper-gold deposits. Surface geochemical sampling and\ngeological mapping has outlined an extensive altered zone, comprising strongly\npropyllitic- and phyllic-altered mafic to felsic volcanics, hosting vein-style\nand disseminated gold, silver base metals mineralisation. Soil, rock chip and\nchannel chip sampling delineated a series of gold, silver and base metals\nanomalies over a 1.75km x 1.50km area, with maximum soil values of 2.4g/t Au\nand maximum rock chip values of 5.1g/t Au being returned.
