It is expected that the patent will be formally granted in the\nnear future.\n\nThis is a major stage in, and vindication of, the Company's IP strategy. The\npatent application covers both the unique crosslinked hydrophilic ionic\nmaterials which underpin the electrolyser and fuel cell developments made by the\nCompany in the past several years, together with the novel production process.\nIn combination, these developments have allowed ITM to develop low cost platinum\nfree electrolysers and high power density low cost fuel cells.\n\nJim Heathcote, CEO ITM Power, said:\n\n'This announcement is particularly timely because we believe world-wide patent\ncover is essential before we ship our first products. We are making excellent\nprogress in constructing and fitting out the Company's new production plant and\nanticipate its completion by the year end, on time and on budget.'\n\nFor further information please contact:\n\nITM Power plc 01799 542 222\nJim Heathcote, Chief Executive Officer\n\nPanmure Gordon & Co. 020 7459 3600\nKatherine Roe\n\nBuchanan Communications 020 7466 5000\nBen Willey\nRichard Darby\nBen Romney\n\n\nNotes to the Editors:\n\nITM Power is a developer of low-cost hydrogen technologies. The Company has\ndeveloped new materials and processes that dramatically reduce the cost of fuel\ncells and electrolysers. The patented membrane materials used in the devices\nhave higher performance and are 1% of the cost of the industry standard\nmaterials.\n\nElectrolysers work by converting water and electricity into hydrogen and oxygen.\nThe hydrogen produced can be used as a replacement for fossil fuels and\nfacilitate zero carbon housing and pollution free motoring.\n\nITM Power was founded in 2000 and floated on the London Stock Exchange's\nAlternative Investment Market in June 2004.\n\n\n\n\n This information is provided by RNS\n The company news service ...
