[{"type":"text","content":"\n Camco International Ltd\n25 May 2007\n\n\n25 May 2007\n\n\n Camco's ESD Awarded Carbon Management Contract for 45 Local Authorities\n\n\nCamco International Ltd (Camco), via its wholly owned subsidiary ESD Ltd (ESD),\nhas been awarded a contract to provide 45 local authorities in the UK with\nadvice on how to reduce their carbon emissions.\n\nThe contract worth around £650,000 will see the provision of consultancy support\nover the next year to the Carbon Trust's Local Authority Carbon Management\nProgamme. The Programme, which is in its fifth year, now has the largest ever\nnumber of local authorities participating. This is the fourth year in which ESD\nhas supported the programme, in collaboration with its partner Hitachi\nConsulting Ltd, formerly known as Impact Plus Ltd.\n\nThe public sector as a whole is estimated to be responsible for some 10% of UK\ncarbon emissions, with the Local Government sector the largest single\ncontributor. The programme enables Local Authorities to calculate their carbon\nemissions baseline, create a business case for reduction, identify and quantify\nemissions reductions projects, build a prioritization plan for implementation\nand embed carbon management in their policies and strategies. Since the\ninitiative was first put in place, plans have been developed to reduce Local\nAuthority CO2 emissions by some 530,000 tonnes per year, with identified savings\nfrom individual authorities increasing each year.\n\nCamco's CEO Jeff Kenna said: 'We are delighted to be able to continue our long\nassociation with the Carbon Trust's Local Authority Carbon Management Programme.\nThe programme has already identified significant savings from Local Authorities\nacross the country and we look forward to being able to build on that progress.\nThis is an important part of the UK's contribution to the fight against climate\nchange and reinforces our work on carbon management in the private and public\nsectors.'\n\nDavid Potter, Chairman of Camco said 'This success underlines the logic of our\nacquisition of ESD and reinforces Camco's leading position in the climate change\nindustry.
