Intertek Group PLC 02 November 2004 2 November 2004 INTERTEK GROUP PLC ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE The Board of Intertek Group plc announces the appointment of Dr Wolfhart Hauser (54) as Chief Executive Officer of the Group, with effect from March 2005. Dr Hauser has been a non-executive director on the Intertek Board since October 2002 and has also worked as a consultant helping to develop the strategy of the business. Dr Hauser has 24 years experience in the testing and certification industry. For ten years he was Chief Executive Officer of TUV Product Service, growing the testing and certification business to a leading international position. From 1998 to 2002, he was Chief Executive Officer and President of TUV Suddeutschland AG, the largest testing, inspection and certification company in Germany, employing over 10,000 people worldwide. In March 2005 Richard Nelson, the current Chief Executive, will become Deputy Chairman. Vanni Treves continues as Chairman of the Group. Vanni Treves said: 'We are delighted that Wolfhart has agreed to become Chief Executive Officer. He has excellent experience that is highly relevant to Intertek and has all the management skills necessary to lead the company. Wolfhart knows the company well and we know him well.'
