[{"type":"text","content":"\n Intercede Group PLC\n9 October 2006\n\n\n \n\n9 OCTOBER 2006\n\n INTERCEDE GROUP plc \n\n ('Intercede' or 'the Company') \n\n \n Intercede announces first contract win in the US Federal Government Market \n \n\nIntercede is delighted to inform the market that RSA, the Security Division of\nEMC, has announced that RSA Card Manager has been selected by the US Environment\nProtection Agency ('US EPA') to provide the smart card management component for\nthe implementation of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12). A\ncopy of RSA's announcement is attached below. RSA Card Manager is powered by\nIntercede's MyID technology under an OEM licence agreement announced in 2005.\n\nHSPD-12 is one of the most important and high profile security directives of\nrecent years. It was issued by President Bush himself in August 2004 and\nrequired, firstly, the creation of an official federal standard (FIPS-201) for\nPersonal Identity Verification (PIV), which would prescribe technologies and\nprocesses for the effective vetting and access control of all federal employees\nand contractors. The second requirement of HSPD-12 was for every US Federal\nAgency to have implemented a PIV solution by the end of October 2006, with all\nemployees and contractors required to have a personal-201 compliant, smart card\nbased identity card one year later. Each of these cards will be issued and\nmanaged using a management system such as MyID.\n\nAll HSPD-12 solutions must by mandate only incorporate products that have been\nexhaustively tested against by the US General Services Administration (GSA), and\nincluded in the GSA's Approved Product List for PIV products. Intercede\nannounced on 4 October 2006 that it had become the first product in its category\nto achieve this coveted status.\n\nThe selection of RSA Card Manager by the US EPA represents a major step forward\nfor the Company. It endorses Intercede's strategy, as previously stated, of\nseeking opportunities arising from HSPD-12. Although it is too early in the\nprocess to ascertain the financial implications of this project, this first win\nprovides grounds for optimism that Intercede will achieve further successes via\nRSA and other partners with bids to provide technology for smart cards to be\nissued to other US Federal Agencies.
