[{"type":"text","content":"\n RNS Number : 4421L Intercede Group PLC 12 January 2009 \n \n12 January 2009\nINTERCEDE GROUP plc\n('Intercede')\n\nContract with BT for the NHS National Data Spine \n\nIntercede (LON: IGP) announces that it has signed a contract with British Telecom (BT) for the supply of the MyID® Identity and Credential Management System in support of the National Health Service (NHS) National Data Spine. BT had previously been supplied with Intercede's MyID software and services indirectly through an Intercede business partner. All new orders will now be placed directly with Intercede.\n\nThe National Programme for IT in the NHS is the largest civilian IT programme in the world. As part of its ongoing involvement in this project, Intercede is midway through supplying MyID software licences to enable the issuance of up to 1.2 million smart cards to healthcare staff throughout the United Kingdom. Over the last 4 years, more than 500,000 smart cards have been successfully issued to authorised NHS people using MyID. \n\nThe NHS is issuing its smart cards using more than 2,000 MyID personalisation stations located at hospitals and medical centres across the country. \n\nThis system is a key component of the Department of Health's initiative to modernise service delivery in the NHS. Data privacy, scalability, security and resilience are critical for success. After three years of operation, it is pleasing to report that Intercede's MyID has proven to be a reliable, production system in this complex environment.\n\n'Intercede is pleased to be recognised by BT as a direct supplier on this demanding project', said Richard Parris, Intercede Chairman and Chief Executive.
