(TSX-V: IOT) reports the publication of\n“Antiviral Activity of Ag\n \n \n 5\n \n \n IO\n \n \n 6\n \n \n , A Unique\nSilver Compound” in the Special Issue of\n \n \n Viruses\n \n \n entitled\n“Impact of Co-Infections in COVID-19:  Predisposing Mechanisms and\nInterplay between Invasive Viral, Bacterial, and Fungal Pathogens”\n(\n \n \n Viruses\n \n \n 2024, 16(6), 959,\n \n \n \n \n https://doi.org/10.3390/v16060959\n \n \n \n \n ).\n \n \n \n \n The reported study shows that Innovotech’s\nInnovoSIL™-1 silver periodate, originally developed for its\nbroad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, including antibiofilm activity,\nhas demonstrated rapid virucidal activity against norovirus and two\nstrains of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.\n \n \n \n \n In vitro\n \n \n testing following ASTM E1052-20 (Standard Practice to Assess the\nActivity of Microbicides Against Viruses in Suspension), showed that\nInnovoSIL™-1 silver was able to generate total kill of the omicron\nstrain of COVID-19 within 30 minutes, as well as total kill of murine\nnorovirus and the original COVID-19 strain within four hours.\n \n \n \n \n Based on its performance in this study, it is\nanticipated that InnovoSIL™-1 silver would also be effective against\nviruses such as influenzas, herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1), and\nrespiratory syncytial viruses (RSVs).  The study showed low activity\nagainst adenovirus and no measurable antiviral activity against\npoliovirus.\n \n \n \n \n InnovoSIL™-1 silver’s antiviral properties are\nbroadly efficacious in wound dressings and medical devices, as well as\nnew potential applications, such as coatings on touch surfaces or\nincorporation into air filters.  In addition, these properties\nuniquely position InnovoSIL™-1 silver for situations where either\ninfection prevention or simultaneous treatment of microbes (bacteria\nor fungi) and viruses are desirable.\n \n \n \n \n Innovotech would like to acknowledge Alberta\nInnovates’ support for this research through an AICE...
