Norman Shanks, a former head of security at BAA, said 'we really need to be looking at a new generation of x-rays to help check for explosive devices'.\n \nA long term trial by the Transport & Security Administration at a major US airport demonstrated that 3D baggage scanners can significantly increase the probability of detecting threat items.\n \nThe Axis-3D® system enables the operator to view the contents of the baggage in the same stereoscopic way as our eyes see the real world, providing a powerful tool in assessing a threat more easily. As a result the chances of missing a gun, bomb or other threat are significantly reduced. The images produced by Axis-3D® offer cutting-edge clarity, which is essential if screeners are to spot and identify the smaller individual component parts of a bomb, such as timers, wires and detonators.\n \nImage Scan Chairman, Gilbert Chalk, noted, 'The Company has long championed the need for more advanced screening technology within the security sector.
