His professional accomplishments include serving as the Secretary of the Panama Canal Commission, where he implemented the successful transfer of the Panama Canal back to Panama. He then brought his command talents to HVAC company, Watsco, Inc (NYSE: WSO).Under Mills’ ten-year leadership, Watsco grew from $464 million to $3.1 billion in sales. John’s experience in agribusiness includes co-founding Innovative Detection Concepts, where he led a team that trains canines to detect the presence and treatment of an invasive fungus in avocado groves. Recently, he trained dogs to detect people who are COVID19 positive. Those dogs are being deployed at airports and sports venues throughout the U.S.Mills is also the founder of Redland Ahead, Inc., a 501-C3 non-profit, that supports agribusiness and provides services and opportunities to veterans and the underserved in South Florida.
