[{"type":"text","content":"\n Hikma Pharmaceuticals Plc\n13 July 2006\n\n\n\n Pre-close statement\n\nLONDON, 13 July 2006 - Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC ('Hikma') (LSE: HIK) (DIFX:\nHIK), the multinational pharmaceuticals group, will enter its close period on\nSaturday 15 July 2006 ahead of its interim results announcement for the six\nmonths ending 30 June 2006, to be made on 13 September 2006.\n\nSince publishing its AGM trading statement on 25 May 2006, the Group has\ncontinued to perform well.\n\nOn a segmental basis, we have seen a strong sales performance in the Branded\nbusiness. As anticipated, the new Algerian reference pricing regime has had an\nimpact on sales in Algeria in the first half, though this has been mostly offset\nby a strong sales performance in other markets. We remain confident that we can\ndeliver growth in Algeria on a full-year basis. This, combined with new product\nlaunches and increased penetration of new and existing markets, should\naccelerate Branded sales growth in the second half of the year.\n\nIn the Injectables business we are continuing to deliver substantial growth in\nthe US, Europe and the MENA region. We expect to maintain this growth through\nthe second half of the year.\n\nIn the Generics business, our most competitive market, we are generating higher\nsales volumes in an environment of continued pricing pressure.
