[{"type":"text","content":"\n Hikma Pharmaceuticals Plc\n23 April 2007\n\n\n\n\n Hikma announces the appointment of Said Darwazah as Chief Executive Officer\n\nLONDON, 23 April 2007 - The Board of Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC ('Hikma') (LSE:\nHIK) (DIFX: HIK), the multinational pharmaceuticals group, announces changes to\nits senior management team.\n\nSaid Darwazah is appointed as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 July\n2007. Samih Darwazah, Hikma's current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer will\ncontinue in both positions until July, when he will assume the role of\nNon-Executive Chairman. 'Said's proven abilities to expand both the top and\nbottom lines will be invaluable and will enable Hikma to continue to deliver on\nits promises, as it has for years past,' said Samih Darwazah. 'We are very\nexcited to have Said at the helm during this important growth period for Hikma.'\n\nSaid, 49, was most recently Minister of Health in the Hashemite Kingdom of\nJordan, a post which he held from 2003 until 2006.\n\nFrom 1994 until 2003, Said was Chairman and CEO of Hikma Investment Company,\nthen the holding company for the Hikma group. During his tenure at Hikma, Said\nled the Company through significant change and achievement. Key milestones\ninclude the acquisition, integration and turnaround of West-ward Pharmaceuticals\nin the US and the greenfield development of the Injectables business in Europe\nand the MENA region. Under his leadership, the Company's facilities in Jordan,\nthe US and Portugal were inspected and approved by the FDA.\n\nSaid is currently on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Jordan and\nthe King Hussein Cancer Institute. He has a degree in industrial engineering\nfrom Purdue University in the US and an MBA from INSEAD.\n\nSir David Rowe-Ham, Senior independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman of\nthe Nomination Committee said, 'We are delighted to welcome Said back as Hikma's\nChief Executive.
