(TSX: HBP / Frankfurt:\nWKN 918864) announced today the issuance of a patent (U.S. Patent No.\n7,211,250) from the United States Patent & Trademark Office relating to the\nmethod and composition in combining DOS47 with targeting agents in the\ntreatment of cancer. Helix is currently developing its first DOS47-based\ncancer therapeutic, L-DOS47, a drug product candidate for the treatment of\nadenocarcinoma of the lung.\n\n\n"This patent provides Helix with significant intellectual property\nprotection and is a vital step toward our goal of bringing DOS47-based cancer\ntherapeutics to market," said Donald H. L-DOS47 is thought to function by leveraging a\nnatural process in the body called the urea cycle, to produce an anti-cancer\neffect.
