[{"type":"text","content":"\n Greggs PLC\n10 March 2006\n\n 10 March 2006\n\n\n\n GREGGS plc\n BOARD APPOINTMENTS\n\n Greggs is the UK's leading retailer specialising in sandwiches, savouries and\n other bakery products, with a particular focus on takeaway food and catering.\nIt has over 1,300 retail outlets throughout the UK, trading under the Greggs and\n Bakers Oven brands.\n\nRichard Hutton FCA (37) is appointed to the Board of Greggs plc as an Executive\nDirector with effect from 13 March 2006, and will succeed Malcolm Simpson as\nFinance Director in May this year. Richard qualified as an accountant with KPMG\nand gained career experience with Procter & Gamble before joining Greggs in\n1998. He is currently Deputy Finance Director, and is a Non-Executive director\nof Northern Recruitment Group plc.\n\nMalcolm Simpson, who reaches the age of 65 in October, has decided to retire as\nFinance Director with effect from the company's AGM in May, after serving on the\nBoard in that position since 1975. He will remain an Executive Director with\ncontinuing responsibility for the Group's important IT function. The Board\nwould like to record its appreciation of his exceptionally long, dedicated and\neffective service.\n\nSir Ian Gibson CBE (59) has agreed to join the Board as an additional\nNon-Executive Director with effect from 1 April 2006. Ian was Chief Executive of\nNissan Europe N.V., Senior Vice President of Nissan Motor Company (Japan),\nDeputy Chairman of Asda Group and Chairman of BPB plc. Ian is a Non-Executive\nDirector of Northern Rock plc and of GKN plc.
