[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nVANCOUVER, Nov. 8 /CNW/ - Grande Portage Resources Ltd. (TSX-V GPG)\n("Grande Portage" or "the Company") is pleased to announce that it had a very\nsuccessful property visit to the underground workings of the Old Sport Horizon\nwith senior underground and environmental specialists from Wardrop Engineering\nLtd. The Old Sport Horizon was the host rock for two former producing\nunderground mines - Coast Copper and Benson Lake.\n\n\nWardrop officials spent time inspecting the underground decline and\ngathered numerous water samples. Samples related to the Old Sport Horizon\ninclude 2 samples from the underground workings, 1 sample from the 5549 adit,\nand 2 samples from the Benson River; upstream and downstream of the mine\nworkings. Additional samples from the area include 1 from the Merry Widow open\npit, 1 from the Kingfisher pit, 1 and 1 from a creek that transects the\nBluebird 1 and Bluebird 2 zones. The samples will be tested for acidity and\nsuspended metals content as preliminary steps towards the Company's goal of\nobtaining a permit to dewater the underground workings and evaluate both the\nexisting resource and to explore for strike extensions of the Old Sport\nHorizon. The samples from outside the underground workings will form part of\nthe overall baseline environmental studies. The samples are being submitted to\nthe laboratory for analysis. Results are expected next week.\n\n\nThe accessible portion of the underground workings are in very good\nconditions despite sitting idle since the early 1970's. There was no timbering\npresent on the level visited, the back and walls were sound with good ground\nconditions. The excellent conditions of the workings will facilitate easy\naccess for dewatering and subsequent evaluation of the remaining\nmineralization.\n\n\nGrande Portage has been exploring the Merry Widow project under the\npremise that there exists significant remaining tonnage at the old open pits\nperipheral to the magnetite zones and in the Old Sport Horizon either along\nstrike extensions or within the old workings. Substantial amounts of\nmineralized skarn material remain untested.\n\n\nWesley Raven, P. Geo., is the qualified person for this project and has\nreviewed and verified the contents of this news release.\n\n\nAbout Grande Portage Resources Ltd.\n\n\n---------------------...
