[{"type":"text","content":"\n Gooch & Housego PLC\n05 February 2008\n\n\nFor Immediate Release 5 February 2008\n\n\n\n GOOCH & HOUSEGO RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FROM LAWRENCE LIVERMORE NATIONAL\n LABORATORY\n\n\nFebruary 5th, 2008 - Gooch and Housego has been presented with a 'Vendor\nAppreciation' award from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for\nthe supply of crystal quartz wave plates.\n\n\nThe wave plates, supplied by Gooch & Housego Ilminster are key components used\nin the National Ignition Facility's (NIF) laser pre-amplifier modules at LLNL.\nThe NIF will be used as part of the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear\nSecurity Administration's Stockpile Stewardship program to ensure the safety and\nsecurity of the nuclear weapons stockpile. The NIF also will be used for energy,\nastrophysics and basic science research.\n\n\nThe presentation, made at Photonics West in San Jose last week, is the\nculmination of a four year relationship between Gooch & Housego and LLNL. It\ncomes in recognition of the high quality product Gooch & Housego has provided\nover the years, which is capable of meeting the stringent demands required for\nworking in an extreme environment such as the NIF.\n\n\nDue to the nature of the National Ignition Facility at LLNL, the laser is being\nbuilt to extremely exacting standards, which also extends to the products the\nLLNL use and the contractors they liaise with. Gooch & Housego has consistently\nprovided the highest quality wave plates, supported by an efficient and\neffective customer service, and the staff at Lawrence Livermore National\nLaboratory wanted to thank Gooch and Housego for their commitment.\n\n\nGareth Jones, CEO of Gooch & Housego, commented, 'It is a great honour to\nreceive this award, and it is testament to the hard work and dedication we have\nput in to this contract.
