[{"type":"text","content":"\n Gooch & Housego PLC\n07 December 2005\n\n\n\nFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 07 December 2005\n\n GOOCH & HOUSEGO\n\n PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2005\n\nGooch & Housego PLC, the specialist manufacturer of acousto-optic and\nelectro-optic devices, precision optical components, crystals, and instruments\nfor measuring optical radiation, today announces preliminary results for the\nyear ended 30 September 2005.\n\nHighlights\n\n • Turnover and profits up substantially on the previous year due to strong\n performance by each of the Group companies.\n • Group turnover for the year increased by 19% to £22.32m (2004 : £18.81m)\n • Profit before tax increased by 42% to £4.68m * (2004 : £3.30m)\n • Basic EPS increased by 40% to 16.1p (2004 : 11.5p)\n • Basic EPS, before goodwill amortisation, rose to 18.0p (2004 : 13.2p)\n • Year end total net funds of £2.37m (2004 : £0.33m)\n • Total dividend increased by 8% to 3.9p (2004 : 3.6p)\n\n* After goodwill amortisation of £339k (2004 : £307k)\n\nGareth Jones, Chief Executive of Gooch & Housego, commented:\n\n'We are pleased with the way Gooch & Housego has performed, exceeding the record\nresults of the previous year. Sales and profits\nincreased substantially over the previous year, which was itself a record year\nfor the Group. Each of the Group companies performed well and made a valuable\ncontribution to this excellent result. In the UK, Gooch & Housego succeeded in\nsecuring land and buildings for the development of a new state-of-the-art\nfactory and headquarters after many years of searching. On a sad note, Mr Gooch,\nco-founder of the company and its inspiration throughout its history, passed\naway in September.
