(TSX:GRZ - AMEX:GRZ)\nannounced today that it has entered into a partnership with Conservation\nInternational (CI) to advance the Company's strong commitment to environmental\nand social responsibility. The partnership will involve preserving\nbiodiversity in and around the Company's Brisas Project in Venezuela and\nsupport the development of best practice tools for integrating biodiversity\ninformation into the business decision making processes.\n\n\nCompania Aurifera Brisas del Cuyuni C.A. (Brisas), the Venezuelan\nsubsidiary of Gold Reserve, has also signed a Letter of Intent with CI\nVenezuela outlining commitments, whereby the two organizations will work\ntogether to institute programs pertaining to biodiversity and sustainable\nagro-forestry in the upper Cuyuni River basin located in the State of Bolivar\nin southeastern Venezuela near the Guyana border. This effort will include\nextensive biodiversity assessments and monitoring efforts to understand and\nprotect the biodiversity of the Project area as well as a program of work\naimed at empowering local communities to develop sustainable agro-forestry.\n\n\nThe Company has also finalized an agreement with CI to support the\ndevelopment of decision making tools and methodologies that guide companies\nsuch as Gold Reserve through a process by which they assess the ongoing\nenvironmental impacts and assess their biodiversity, take action to avoid,\nmitigate or offset this impact, and monitor their achievements. This support\nwill facilitate the development of a biodiversity offset strategy for the\nBrisas Project in conjunction with the Business and Biodiversity Offset\nProgram (BBOP) (more information on BBOP can be found at:\n\n\nwww.forest-trends.org/biodiversityoffsetprogram).\n\n\n"We are pleased to be working with CI," said Doug Belanger, president of\nGold Reserve.
