[{"type":"text","content":"\n Gem Diamonds Limited\n24 September 2007\n\n24 September 2007\n\n\n GEM DIAMONDS LIMITED\n\n ('Gem Diamonds' or the 'Company')\n\n\n APPOINTMENT OF NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR\n\n\n\nGem Diamonds (LSE: GEMD) is pleased to confirm the appointment of Lord Renwick\nof Clifton as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 24\nSeptember 2007.\n\nLord Renwick served at an important time as British Ambassador to South Africa\nand, subsequently, as British Ambassador to the United States.\n\nHe is Vice Chairman, Investment Banking, of JPMorgan Europe and Vice Chairman of\nJPMorgan Cazenove. He is a Non-Executive Director of Compagnie Financiere\nRichemont, Fluor Corporation, Kazakhmys plc and SABMiller plc. Lord Renwick\nserved previously on the boards of BHP Billiton, British Airways and Liberty\nInternational.\n\nGem Diamonds, Chief Executive Officer, Clifford Elphick, commented:\n\n'At the time of our IPO, the Board of Gem Diamonds committed to the shareholders\nthat they intended both to separate the role of Chairman and Chief Executive\nOfficer within twelve months and to appoint at least one further Non-Executive\nDirector within six months.
