PHULBARI COAL PROJECT - UPDATE
Asia Energy Plc ('the Company') announced today that its operating subsidiary
Asia Energy Corporation (Bangladesh) Pty Ltd had formerly lodged an application
with the Government of Bangladesh for an 'Environmental Site Clearance' for its
Phulbari Coal Project in north-west Bangladesh.
The Company said an 'Initial Environmental Evaluation' document, prepared by its
environmental consultants, SMEC International Pty Ltd, has been submitted to the
appropriate authorities. The document was the culmination of more than six
months' intensive field work.
'Asia Energy has now fulfilled an important environmental milestone in the
Phulbari Coal Project feasibility study,' said Mr David Lenigas, Asia Energy's
Joint Managing Director. 'The Company next aims to submit its full
Environmental Impact Assessment report by the middle of the year, and to provide
the Government of Bangladesh with a Mining Scheme for its approval later this
year.'
