About this update from Gb Group Plc

[{"type":"text","content":"\n GB Group PLC\n06 February 2006\n\n\nMonday, 6th February 2006\n\n GB GROUP PLC\n ('GB' or the 'Group')\n\n Further Progress at DataAuthentication (URU(TM))\n\nGB Group are pleased to announce the signing of bet365 as a URU(TM) client. This\nfurther demonstrates that URU(TM), the flagship electronic age and ID\nverification service, jointly developed and marketed with BT, continues to build\nupon its market leadership in the Online Gaming sector. This deal also indicates\nthat clients are moving towards greater initial commitment as this contract with\nbet365 has a sizeable upfront value.\n\nDataAuthentication's other target sectors of Mobile Telecommunications and\nFinancial Services have also seen positive progress as URU(TM) continues to\nstrengthen its position as the most comprehensive and technically advanced, age\nand identity verification solution, in the market.\n\nAdditionally, work to develop an electronic age and identity verification\nsolution capable of verifying non-UK individuals is continuing satisfactorily\nand GB also announces today the appointment of Micah Willbrand to the post of\nInternational Development Manager. For the previous five years, Micah worked in\nthe USA as Vice President of Authentication Solutions at Aristotle Inc., a\nleading provider of age verification solutions to the USA, European and Asia\nPacific markets.\n\nCommenting, Richard Law, GB Group's CEO, said: 'We are pleased with the progress\nbeing made to enable ourselves and BT to establish a leading position for URU(TM)\nin this rapidly growing and potentially lucrative market. Currently we estimate\nthat around 500 million age and identity checks are conducted annually in the UK\nusing manual paper based means, which are both obsolete and inefficient. The\nrate at which business users adopt new electronic means of age and identity\nverification will determine how quickly the market develops, however, the\nsizeable commitment from bet365 is a positive indication that the rate of\nadoption of electronic age and ID verification solutions is increasing.\n\nOur work to develop an international solution is aimed at giving URU(TM) the\ncapability to identify overseas nationals and in the first instance will be\naimed primarily at the Online Gaming market to enable our many clients in this\nsector to prevent underage gambling and fraud.'\n\...
