Freeport welcomes the contributions of Mr.\nDimmell and Mr. Thistle, whose efforts over the past six years have greatly\nassisted in the success of the company.\nPeter Dimmell, P.Geo., is a well respected professional geoscientist\nwith 37 years of exploration experience in Canada, the US and overseas. A St.\nJohn's resident, Mr. Dimmell graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the\nUniversity of New Brunswick and is registered with the Association of\nProfessional Engineers and Geoscientists of NL. In 1969, he commenced work\nwith Noranda Exploration in eastern Canada. Seventeen years later, he became\nan exploration and technical consultant and director/officer for a number of\nmajor and junior mining companies. Dimmell has worked on Freeport's Hutton\ndiscovery, as well as the Notakwanon property located in the centre of Inco's\nGarland Lake claims.\nGuiding projects from exploration to production, Mr. Dimmell has been\ninvolved in all aspects of the industry world-wide, and has a recognized\nknowledge of placer deposits. He has served on the boards of numerous public\ncompanies and professional organizations. He is currently a Director and the\nPresident of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.\nJim Thistle, Q.C., also a St. John's resident, was called to the Bar in\nNewfoundland in 1979 and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1989. Thistle has served\nas Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General for Newfoundland,\nand has significant litigation and regulatory experience. He was General\nCounsel for the Hibernia offshore oil project, and has worked on a variety of\nmajor resource projects, in North America and internationally. Mr. Thistle was\ninstrumental in shifting the proposed park boundaries adjacent to the Hutton\ngarnet-titanium beaches to permit exploration and development work to proceed.\nThistle's background is broad, encompassing resource development, energy,\nconstruction & environmental law, as well as public law. He acted as counsel\nfor the Province of Newfoundland on the Royal Commission on the Ocean Ranger\n...
