The charging hub aims to provide local vehicle operators and rideshare drivers with fast and convenient charging options and advances key goals of ComEd and the state to increase EV charging access in public sites.\n\nThe new charging hub near ORD represents one of the largest public charging sites in the region and builds on more than 9,500 new public and private charging ports energized through ComEd’s rebates since ComEd first launched its EV rebate programs in 2024.\n\n“ComEd is committed to helping our customers access the benefits of clean and affordable transportation, so we are proud to partner with bp pulse and stakeholders across the region to advance the delivery of new large scale EV charging sites,” said President and CEO of ComEd, Gil Quiniones. “By providing funding for EV infrastructure projects, ComEd has made it possible to bring thousands of new chargers online, positioning northern Illinois communities to advance state goals for building a cleaner, more equitable future.”\n\nComEd’s rebate helped cover the costs of site and infrastructure upgrades to bring 40 new ultrafast EV charging bays online, including a mix of 400kW and 150kW DC fast chargers. In addition, ComEd teams delivered infrastructure upgrades needed to serve new charging needs. This charging hub is one of six projects ComEd is partnering to deliver with bp pulse, with other charging locations set to come online in 2026 across northern Illinois.\n\n“Opening our sixth major airport hub is a significant milestone in our commitment to expanding our EV charging network across the United States,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of bp pulse Americas. “Working alongside utilities like ComEd, we are ensuring that new fast charging stations can deliver access to quick and reliable charging that drivers increasingly demand.”\n\nAdditional funding for this new charging hub came from the Illinois EPA Driving a Cleaner Illinois Program...
