Eurasia Mining PLC 02 October 2002 PRESS RELEASE New Managing Director bolsters experience in key areas of development October 2, 2002: Eurasia Mining Plc, the AIM-quoted platinum exploration company with projects in Russia and South Africa, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Christian Schaffalitzky as Managing Director with effect from today. Dr Michael Martineau, Eurasia's Executive Deputy Chairman said 'Mr Schaffalitzky brings a wealth of practical experience to Eurasia as the company moves into the next phase of its development. With a background that includes hands-on exploration, negotiating deals and managing smaller mining companies, he is perfectly placed to help us conclude forthcoming agreements in both Russia and South Africa, where we are aiming to develop projects for the exploitation of platinum group metals and gold.' Mr Schaffalitzky has 25 years' experience in international minerals exploration, most recently in Russia and adjacent areas of the former Soviet Union. He was the co-founder and later Managing Director and Chairman of the CSA consulting group, a leading global consultancy specialising in mineral exploration and management. He was a founder of Ivernia West PLC, where he initiated and was responsible for the exploration leading to the discovery of the world class Lisheen zinc-lead deposit in Ireland. He was the Technical Director for Ivernia through to the completion of the bankable feasibility study on Lisheen and worked on the negotiations and joint venture to introduce Anglo American as development and production management partner. Most recently he was Managing Director of Ennex International PLC, focussing on zinc development projects and latterly has been responsible for the company's diversification into oil and gas. Mr Schaffalitzky has recently been involved with a team seeking to identify and to acquire platinum and related minerals projects in Russia. Working with Eurasia on a consultancy basis, the team has identified properties holding near term development potential and discussions are in progress to obtain entry to at least one of them. In parallel with the appointment of Mr Schaffalitzky as Managing Director additional changes are being made to the administration and running of Eurasia which will result in significantly reduced costs.
