[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\nMONTREAL and VANCOUVER, Oct. 9, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - EACOM Timber\n Corporation (\"EACOM\", or the \"Company\") is pleased to announce today\n the reopening of the Ear Falls sawmill in the 2nd quarter of 2014.\n\n\nRick Doman, President and CEO of EACOM, wishes to thank Premier Kathleen\n Wynne and Natural Resources Minister David Orazietti for their support\n with this announcement.\n\n\n\"Ear Falls requires a long-term, secure and sustainable economic wood\n supply, and the arrangements that have been confirmed by Minister\n Orazietti are a significant step in this direction\", stated Mr. Doman.\n \"We also wish to thank Unifor, the union at Ear Falls, and leaders Kim\n Ginter - former CEP Ontario Vice-President, Stephen Boon - Unifor\n National Representative, and George Smith - Unifor Local 324 President.\n We also thank Mayor Kevin Kahoot and the Township of Ear Falls for\n their strong support of our reopening\", Mr. Doman added.\n\n\nEACOM intends to commence timber harvesting and wood purchasing\n operations in the first quarter of 2014 in order to build a saw log\n inventory for the sawmill. Refurbishment and improvement of sawmill\n equipment will commence this fall, as will the securing of key\n management and operations staff.\n\n\n\"As softwood lumber markets continue to steadily improve, we look\n forward to the resumption of sawmilling operations at Ear Falls, to the\n benefit of our customers, employees, suppliers, the community and our\n owners. Our goal is to create an efficient and profitable operation\n capable of continuous production during both strong and weak markets,\n bringing stability to our Company, our employees and the entire Ear\n Falls region\", Mr. Doman concluded.\n\n\nAbout EACOM\n\nThe business activities of EACOM consist of the manufacturing, marketing\n and distribution of lumber, wood chips and wood-based value-added\n products, and the management of forest resources. EACOM owns eight\n sawmills, all located in Eastern Canada, and related tenures. The mills\n are Timmins, Nairn Centre, Gogama, Elk Lake and Ear Falls in Ontario,\n and Val-d'Or, Ste-Marie and Matagami in Quebec. The mills in Ear Falls,\n Ontario, and Ste-Marie, Quebec, are currently idled. EACOM also owns a\n lumber remanufacturing facility in Val-d'Or, Quebec, and a 50% interest\n in an \"I\" joist plant in Sault ...
