[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nConstruction contractor selected for proposed natural gas pipeline\n\n\nSAINT JOHN, NB, April 30 /CNW/ - Brunswick Pipeline announced today it\nhas awarded a conditional contract to Louisbourg Pipelines to construct the\nproposed 145-km natural gas pipeline from the Canaport LNG terminal to connect\nwith the Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline near St. Stephen, New Brunswick. The\nproject is subject to approval by the National Energy Board (NEB).\n\n\n"Selection of the right contractor is an essential building block to a\nsuccessful project," said Nancy MacLeod, Manager, Community Relations at\nBrunswick Pipeline. "Louisbourg Pipelines' extensive knowledge and experience\nin pipeline construction will ensure we establish a safe, reliable pipeline\nsystem."\n\n\nAs General Contractor, Louisbourg Pipelines will be responsible for the\nmajority of work associated with the construction of the proposed pipeline.\nThis will include right-of way clearing, grading, excavating, welding,\ninstalling the pipe, backfilling the trench, testing, and right-of-way\nrestoration.\n\n\n"We are very pleased to have been selected to be a part of this important\nenergy project in New Brunswick," said Walter Martinello, President of\nLouisbourg Pipelines. "We look forward to contributing in a significant way\nand working proactively with Brunswick Pipeline and its project stakeholders\nin planning the work."\n\n\n"By engaging the contractor early, we will be able to draw on their\nexpertise as we carry out planning activities over the next several months in\nadvance of construction," said MacLeod. "The planning work immediately ahead\nof us includes project opportunities information sessions, engineering design,\nenvironmental planning, detailed routing, and site specific construction and\nrestoration plans."\n\n\nThe project will bring millions of dollars in direct and indirect\neconomic benefits to the region through construction work and supplies.
