(the “Company,” or together with its affiliates and subsidiaries, “Eastern”) (NASDAQ Global Select Market: EBC), the stock holding company of Eastern Bank, today announced 2020 fourth quarter financial results and the initiation of a quarterly cash dividend.\n\nConcurrent with its mutual-to-stock conversion and as described in the prospectus for its initial public offering (“IPO”), the Company made a one-time donation of 7.5 million shares of common stock to the Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation (“EBCF”) at a total market value of $91.3 million. This contribution resulted in a net loss of $44.1 million for the fourth quarter of 2020, or $0.26 per share, compared to net income of $28.5 million reported for the prior quarter.
