[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 7864X Verditek PLC 29 November 2017 \n\n29 November 2017\n \nVerditek PLC\n \n(\"Verditek\" or the \"Company\")\n \nWestec Environmental Solutions, a Verditek PLC affiliated company, successfully passes a key milestone with its CO2 capture technology in Norway\n \nVerditek plc, (AIM: VDTK), the clean technology company, announces that its group company Westec Environmental Solutions (\"WES\"), SINTEF (Norway's largest research institute for energy and climate technology) and one of Canada's CMC Research Institutes, the Carbon Capture & Conversion Institute (CMCRI CCCI), have reached a key milestone on a collaborative project to deliver a step change improvement in CO2 capture technology efficiency. \n \nThe project, focused on reducing the cost of capturing carbon from industrial processes, is being supported by Gassnova SF, the Norwegian state's Carbon Capture and Storage enterprise, with a US$2.2 million matching grant through their CLIMIT Programme (the Norwegian research programme for accelerating the commercialisation of Carbon Capture and Storage). \n \nWES' patented absorption technology, which comprises a uniquely developed contactor, offers new solutions that optimise the mass transfer of gas/liquid for industrial emissions/control and for CO2 capture. WES' technology aims to make CO2 capture affordable by delivering performance improvements that will translate into significant capital and operational cost savings for utility companies, refineries and cement kiln operators.\n \nThe pilot-scale project has today passed a key milestone, successfully completing the initial testing phase, using independent testing at the SINTEF facility in Norway. The next and penultimate phase of the project will comprise solvent optimisation, process modelling, contactor optimisation, and pilot-scale validation, followed by scale-up to full industrial volumes. As a result, WES is discussing a possible licensing agreement of its technology with a Canadian customer.\n \nGeoff Nesbitt, Chairman of Verditek PLC said: \"We are extremely pleased with the performance of the WES contactor technology, which validates the WES concept.
