In\nhis role as Managing Director, Fullers Inns, he leads the retail business which\nencompasses the group's managed pubs, tenanted pubs and hotels.\n\nHe joined Fuller, Smith and Turner in 1996 from Bass PLC, where he progressed\nthrough various senior management roles including strategic planning.\n\n\nGeoff Cooper, Chairman of Dunelm, said:\n\n\"We are delighted to welcome Simon to Dunelm. As well as having a wealth of\nexperience, both of consumer-facing businesses and of PLC governance, he is a\nman of considerable drive and energy. At its most recent half-year end, the Group had 83 stores, branded\nDunelm Mill, of which 66 were out-of-town superstores and 17 were high street\nshops. The majority of the stores are located in the Midlands or north-west of\nEngland. Dunelm employs over 5,000 full and part time staff, the vast majority\nof whom work in the stores.\n\nDunelm was founded in 1979 as a market stall business, selling ready-made\ncurtains. The first shop was opened in Leicester in 1984 and over the following\nyears the business developed into a successful chain of high street shops in the\nMidlands specialising in soft furnishings. The first Dunelm superstore was\nopened in 1991, leading to the Company's move into the broader homewares market.\n\nThe superstores provide an average of 28,000 sq ft of selling space and offer an\nextensive range of up to 18,000 products across a broad spectrum of categories,\nincluding bedding, curtains, gifts and seasonal items, cushions, bathroom\nproducts, ...
