[{"type":"text","content":"\n \n OPERATING AND FINANCIAL REVIEW AND PROSPECTS\n \n \n Overview\n \n \n We are an integrated global pharmaceutical company committed to accelerating access to affordable and innovative medicines. We derive our revenues from the sale of finished dosage forms, active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, development and manufacturing services provided to innovator pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and license fees from marketing authorizations for our products.\n \n \n The Chief Operating Decision Maker (\"CODM\") evaluates our performance and allocates resources based on an analysis of various performance indicators by operating segments. The CODM reviews revenues and gross profit as the performance indicator for all of the operating segments, and does not review the total assets and liabilities of an operating segment. Our Chief Executive Officer (\"CEO\") is the CODM of our company.\n \n \n Our reportable operating segments are as follows:\n \n \n ·\n \n \n Global Generics;\n \n \n ·\n \n \n Pharmaceutical Services and Active Ingredients; and\n \n \n ·\n \n \n Others.\n \n \n Global Generics.\n \n \n This segment consists of our business of manufacturing and marketing prescription and over-the-counter finished pharmaceutical products ready for consumption by the patient, marketed under a brand name (branded formulations) or as generic finished dosages with therapeutic equivalence to branded formulations (generics). This segment includes the operations of our biologics business,\n \n \n and the portfolio of consumer healthcare brands in the Nicotine Replacement Therapy category (the \"NRT Business\").\n \n \n Pharmaceutical Services and Active Ingredients.\n \n \n This segment primarily consists of our business of manufacturing and marketing active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, also known as \"API\", which are the principal ingredients for finished pharmaceutical products. Active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates become finished pharmaceutical products when the dosages are fixed in a form ready for human consumption such as a tablet, capsule or liquid using additional inactive ingredients.
