[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nTORONTO, Nov. 20 /CNW/ - Laboratory testing, under contract with the\nDepartment of Indian and Northern Development (DIAND), reveals that the DesEL\nsystem is extremely effective in remediating arsenic-contaminated water from\nan abandoned mine in the Northwest Territories.\nIn the late 1990s, DIAND assumed ownership of several abandoned mines,\nsome of which have issues related to arsenic in water.\nDr. Gene Shelp, President of ENPAR Technologies Inc., is pleased to\nannounce that single-stage treatment removes 99.5% of the arsenic, from a high\nof 2.6 parts per million to a low of 0.010 parts per million. Two-stage\ntreatment further reduces the arsenic to half that level.\nAlso, the DesEL System is highly effective in removing both As(III) and\nAs(V), eliminating the requirement for oxidative pre-treatment, and recovers\nup to 99% of the water with a power requirement of only 0.70 kWh or\napproximately $0.06 per cubic meter of water treated.\nENPAR anticipates that the project will proceed to Phase II - on site\npilot scale testing. A decision is expected in the immediate future.\nShareholders will be appraised as subsequent events unfold.\nThe DIAND study is the third of its kind, and supports ENPAR's contention\nthat the DesEL System is cost effective and superior to other methods for\nremediating arsenic-contaminated drinking water and waste water.\nENPAR and its management clearly believe that the DesEL System will yield\nmany arsenic related contracts worldwide.\n\nENPAR is a \"Technology Company\" applying its patented and proprietary\n\"Electrochemical Technologies\" to the treatment of waste water and drinking\nwater contaminated by metals or nutrients i.e., nitrate/ammonia associated\nwith the mining, metal processing, chemical, agricultural, municipal and waste\nmanagement sectors.
