A\ncollaborative testing program with the Instituto Mexicano de Tecnologia del\nAgua (IMTA) in Mexico has demonstrated that this technology is extremely\neffective and potentially more economical than conventional technologies.\nThe current study is examining the efficacy of the DesEL System to treat\npotable water sources in Mexico, which contain up to 2.35 ppm (parts per\nmillion) arsenic. These levels far exceed the maximum permissible limit of\n0.025 ppm set for year 2005 by the Official Mexican Norm (NOM-127-SSA1-1994).\nIt is estimated that 500,000 people live in rural areas in which the drinking\nwater supply contains arsenic levels exceeding 0.05 ppm. To date, testing has\nfocused on the town of Huautla, Morelos, Mexico. The treated water contains\nless than 0.005 ppm as total arsenic, with both arsenic removal and water\nrecovery being about 97%.\nTo support the ongoing program, IMTA has purchased a portable DesEL-400\nunit to enable onsite testing at remote locations. ENPAR is encouraged by the\nvery positive results of the testing program and is confident that the\ncollaborative testing program will assist greatly in introducing the highly\neffective DesEL Water Treatment Technology to the Mexican market.\nArsenic, a human carcinogen, is reported to exist at concentrations\ngreater than the US Environmental Protection Agency Guideline Value of \n0.010 ppm, in drinking water at various sites in Argentina, Australia,\nBangladesh, Chile, China, Hungary, India, Mexico, Peru, Thailand, and the\nUnited States of America.\n\nENPAR is a \"Technology Company\" applying its patented and proprietary\n\"Electrochemical Technologies\" to the treatment of waste water and drinking\nwater contaminated by metals or nutrients i.e., nitrate/ammonia associated\nwith the mining, metal processing, chemical, agricultural, municipal and waste\nmanagement sectors.
