[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\n\nA Company Specializing in Environmental Protection and Remediation \nTechnologies \n\nTORONTO, Jan. 25 /CNW/ - Dr. Gene Shelp, President of Enpar Technologies\nInc. (ENPAR) is pleased to announce that the Company is the recipient of a\n$99,500 grant from IRAP. Over the next 12 months, the company and IRAP will\ninvest a total of $250,000 to modify the design of the AmmEL electrochemical\nreactor for the recovery of the reaction products sodium hydroxide and\nhydrogen gas.\nThe AmmEL Systems remove toxic ammonia from municipal waste water and\nconvert the ammonia into environmentally friendly nitrogen gas. Sodium\nhydroxide and hydrogen gas are byproducts of the conversion reactions that\noccur within the electrochemical reactor. Recovered sodium hydroxide will be\nused to reduce chemical consumption in the ammonia removal stage, whereas the\nhydrogen gas will be used to generate electricity. A successful research\nprogram would lead to a reduction in overall operating costs for the AmmEL\nSystems.\nDr. Shelp states \"IRAP plays a vital role in supporting the creativity\nthat is required for environmental technology innovators to compete and\ncapture domestic and world markets. IRAP support has contributed significantly\nto the development of ENPAR's leading-edge water treatment technologies.\"\nThe continued investment in research, coupled with commercialization and\nmarketing of its leading edge water treatment systems, is consistent with\nENPAR's long-term development and marketing strategy, which is designed to\nestablish the company as a global player in the water treatment industry.\nENPAR is a \"Technology Company\" that applies its patented and proprietary\n\"Electrochemical Technologies\" to the treatment of waste water and drinking\nwater, which is contaminated by metals or nutrients (e.g., nitrate/ammonia\nassociated with the mining, metal processing, chemical, agricultural,\nmunicipal and waste management sectors).
