[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nLAKEWOOD, CO, March 5 /CNW/ - NewWest Gold Corporation (TSX:NWG)\n("NewWest") announced today that Phase Two drilling at its Abel Knoll\ndiscovery at the Sandman Project in Humboldt County, Nevada expanded a\npreviously identified mineralized zone and discovered a new zone of\nmineralization to the east-northeast. NewWest's Phase Two drilling program\nfollowed a discovery of high-grade gold mineralization at Abel Knoll disclosed\non October 16, 2006.\n\n\nThe Phase Two drilling program included 25 reverse circulation (RC)\nrotary holes with a total of 12,665 feet of drilling at Abel Knoll. The Abel\nKnoll drill holes were part of a US$1.2 million project-wide drilling program\nto test district exploration targets and to expand mineralization at three of\nthe deposits at Sandman, including North Hill, Silica Ridge, and Southeast\nPediment.\n\n\nThe Phase Two drilling program advanced the Abel Knoll target to a\ndeposit with a quantifiable resource and significant upside potential.\n\n\n"The presence of multiple and seemingly continuous high-grade zones in\ntwo holes (AK06-2 and AK06-23) is especially promising," said Steve Alfers,\nPresident and Chief Executive Officer. "The new discovery just to the\neast-northeast represents an exciting opportunity to add substantial size to\nthe gold mineralization at Abel Knoll."\n\n\nPhase Two results for Abel Knoll and a map of the drill-hole locations\nare available on the News page of NewWest's website at www.newwestgold.com.\nReported average gold grades are based on a 0.010 0z Au/ton cutoff.\n\n\nAbel Knoll Phase Two Drill Program Objectives\n\n\nNewWest designed the Abel Knoll Phase Two drilling program to test the\nextent of the mineralization identified in the two exploration holes drilled\nduring the Phase One drilling program. As reported on October 16, 2006, both\nPhase One drill holes intercepted gold mineralization. Hole AK06-2 encountered\n420 feet of continuous gold mineralization from 245 to 655 feet with an\naverage grade of 0.087 oz Au/ton. This interval includes two higher grade\nzones of 0.397 oz Au/ton between 350 and 375 feet and 0.192 oz Au/ton between\n535 and 635 feet. The Phase Two step-out drilling near AK06-2 substantially\ndefined the shape of this mineralized zone which remains open to the\nnorthwest. The Phase Two program a...
