[{"type":"text","content":"\n\n\n\nOTTAWA, April 14 /CNW/ - Corel Corporation (NASDAQ:CREL; TSX:CRE), a\nleading developer of graphics productivity and digital media software,\nannounced today that the special committee of the Board of Directors ("Special\nCommittee") of Corel Corporation ("Corel") has selected Genuity Capital\nMarkets to act as its financial advisor in connection with its review of the\nunsolicited proposal from an affiliate of Vector Capital ("Vector"), the\nholder of 69% of Corel's outstanding common shares, as announced on March 28,\n2008. The Special Committee which is now comprised solely of Ian Giffen has\nalso retained Bennett Jones LLP and Bingham McCutchen LLP as legal advisors.\n\n\nThe legal and financial advisors retained by the Special Committee will\nassist it in considering and responding to Vector's proposal. In addition, the\nSpecial Committee is commencing a process to evaluate strategic alternatives\nto maximize value for all shareholders. The Special Committee has been advised\nby Vector that it is interested in working towards completing the transaction\nit has proposed, but is committed to ensuring a full and fair strategic review\nprocess.
