[{"type":"text","content":"\n \nRNS Number : 2269H Costain Group PLC 25 May 2011 \n \n\nCOSTAIN GROUP PLC\n(\"Costain\")\n \n \nCostain secures in excess of £100m of additional work in the water sector\n \nCostain, one of the UK's leading construction and engineering solutions providers, is pleased to announce that it has been instructed to undertake two major water contract extensions.\n \nFirstly, Costain, as part of the Costain, Galliford Try and Atkins joint venture, has been instructed to undertake £200m worth of work by United Utilities to upgrade and extend Sandon Dock sewage treatment works in Liverpool.\n \nThe project is part of the Asset Management Programme 5 (\"AMP5\") with United Utilities and will be progressed through the existing process alliance framework.\n \nThe scheme involves extending the current treatment works into the adjacent dock along with major upgrade works to the existing plant all of which will improve the quality of the final effluent in line with discharge consents set by the Environment Agency.\n \nFurthermore, Costain is pleased to announce a further extension to its AMP5 contract with Severn Trent Water (\"Severn Trent\") worth around £45 million.\n \nWorking in partnership with Severn Trent and other non-infrastructure contractors, a programme of major schemes to a value of £187 million has been agreed and will include the provision of wastewater schemes for Costain to design and build.\n \nCommenting on the contract awards, Andrew Wyllie, Chief Executive of Costain, said:\n \n\"We are delighted to have secured these two contracts, which demonstrate the UK water industry's continued investment in infrastructure, and help us build on our market leading position in the water sector.\"\n \n25 May 2011\n \n \n\n\n\n\nENQUIRIES:\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCostain Group PLC\n\n\nTel: 01628 842 444\n\n\n\n\nGraham Read, Communications Director\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nCollege Hill\n\n\nTel: 020 7457 2020\n\n\n\n\nMark Garraway &nbs...
