This is a new product line created to detect and block network-layer and application-layer Distributed Denial of Service ('DDoS') cyber-attacks. \n \nThe DDS product line is believed by Corero to be the first available solution for both network-layer and application-layer DDoS defence. DDS enables the detection of ever more prevalent and malicious DDoS attacks, many of which now occur at the application-layer, and minimises the risks and losses associated with them. These application-layer DDoS attacks can quickly exhaust local server resources while going undetected by conventional DDoS detection solutions, leading to lost revenue and business disruption.\n \nDDoS attacks are increasingly widespread and prevalent. These attacks attempt to make a computer (such as a web site server) unavailable to its intended users and generally consist of the concerted efforts of cybercriminals to prevent an internet site from functioning efficiently or at all, temporarily or indefinitely. One common method of attack involves saturating the target computer with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. More recently, these attacks have become increasingly sophisticated and destructive with the evolution of attacks targeted at computer software applications.\n \nCorero has more than ten years of expertise in the development and provision of DDoS defence systems and DDS is built on its flagship fourth-generation network security platform. A DDS solution typically comprises of a hardware unit and associated software components, coupled with Corero's remote support. The solution is quick and simple to configure and once installed, a customer's servers are protected against the effects of DDoS attacks that might occur, and the business avoids downtime and associated reputation losses.\n \nAndrew Miller, COO of Corero, commented: \"Corero's new DDS product stops the disruptive for...
