(Nasdaq: CNOB) (the “Company” or “ConnectOne”), parent company of ConnectOne Bank (the “Bank”), today reported net income available to common stockholders of $30.8 million for the second quarter of 2022 compared with $29.9 million for the first quarter of 2022 and $32.2 million for the second quarter of 2021. Diluted earnings per share were $0.78 for the second quarter of 2022 compared with $0.75 in the first quarter of 2022 and $0.81 in the second quarter of 2021. The increase in net income available to common stockholders and diluted earnings per share from the first quarter of 2022 was primarily due to an increase in net interest income of $5.2 million and an increase in noninterest income of $0.3 million, partially offset by an increase in provision for credit losses of $1.6 million, an increase in noninterest expenses of $2.5 million, and an increase in income tax expense of $0.5 million. The decrease in net income available to common stockholders and diluted earnings per share from the second quarter of 2021 was primarily due to an increase in provision for credit losses of $4.6 million, an increase in noninterest expenses of $5.4 million, an increase in preferred dividends of $1.5 million, a decrease in noninterest income of $1.1 million, and an increase in income tax expenses of $1.2 million, partially offset by an increase in net interest income of $12.6 million.
