(NASDAQ: CBSH) announced earnings of $.34 per common share for the three months ended June 30, 2020, compared to $.91 per share in the same quarter last year and $.44 per share in the prior quarter. Net income attributable to Commerce Bancshares, Inc. for the second quarter of 2020 amounted to $39.9 million, compared to $108.0 million in the second quarter of 2019 and $51.9 million in the prior quarter. For the quarter, the return on average assets was .54%, the return on average common equity was 4.77% and the efficiency ratio was 58.1%.\n\n\nFor the six months ended June 30, 2020, earnings per common share totaled $.78 compared to $1.72 for the first six months of 2019. Net income attributable to Commerce Bancshares, Inc. amounted to $91.7 million for the six months ended June 30, 2020 compared to $205.1 million in the comparable period last year.
