[{"type":"text","content":"\n RNS Number : 4134P Cohort PLC 15 July 2010 \n \n\n15 July 2010 AIM: CHRT\nPRESS RELEASE\nCOHORT PLC (\"Cohort\")\nSEA Wins €3.5million contract for EarthCARE Programme\n \nCohort, the independent technology group, today announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary SEA has been selected by Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd. (SSTL) to provide an Instrument Control Unit (ICU) for the European Space Agency's EarthCARE mission, a contract valued at circa €3.5 million.\n \nUnder this contract, SEA will work alongside the prime, SSTL, to develop and produce the ICU for the Multi-Spectral Imager instrument on board the EarthCARE satellite, a €263 million joint Japanese-European project, which will be used to gain a better understanding of the interactions between cloud, radioactive and aerosol processes that play a role in climate regulation.\n \nThe Multi-Spectral Imager, which will collect images of the earth to support the measurement of cloud and aerosol properties, will rely on the ICU to collect scientific data and provide ground status commands whilst in flight.\n \nSSTL is part of EADS Astrium the prime contractor for the EarthCARE satellite development.
