[{"type":"text","content":"\n RNS Number : 5997Y Cohort PLC 07 September 2009 \n \n\n7 September 2009\n\nCOHORT PLC\nSEA SELECTED AS PREFERRED BIDDER ON THE ASTUTE PROGRAMME\n\nCohort plc, the independent technology group, today announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SEA, has been selected as the preferred bidder to supply the External Communication System (ECS) for ASTUTE Boat 4. SEA will now enter into discussions to finalise detailed terms of the contract and work is currently expected to begin in the second half of 2009.\n\nUnder this contract, SEA will considerably extend the capability and scope of the submarine communications system for ASTUTE, to provide the Royal Navy with a world-class, leading edge solution. \n\nThis contract significantly underpins SEA's engagement with the ASTUTE programme and with BAE Systems, the prime contractor for ASTUTE. SEA is working with Thales Underwater Systems Ltd, Selex Communications and Aish Technologies Ltd to deliver this contract. \n\nAndy Thomis, Chief Executive Officer of Cohort plc, commented: 'I am extremely pleased to win this competition against some of the world's best defence contractors and establish a significant position with BAE - one of our most important customers.
