[{"type":"text","content":"\n Cohort PLC\n03 March 2008\n\n\n3 March 2008\n\n\n SEA starts work on a European Space contract worth £12M\n\n\nCohort plc, a leading independent technical services business, is pleased to\nannounce that one of its subsidiary companies, SEA, has been authorised by the\nGerman satellite prime contractor EADS Astrium GmbH, to proceed with work on a\nnew contract that is expected to be worth circa £12M for the development and\nsupply of the BroadBand Radiometer (BBR) instrument of the EarthCARE satellite.\n\nSEA's BBR team, which has been working together for some time leading up to this\naward, is predominantly UK-based and includes the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory\n(RAL) and Sula.\n\nSEA also has a smaller role on another of EarthCARE's instruments, the Cloud\nProfiling Radar, which is being supplied for the mission by the Japanese Space\nAgency.\n\nEarthCARE is the third of the European Space Agency's Earth Explorer Core\nMissions and is aimed at improving the understanding of interactions between\nclouds, aerosols and radiation - three factors believed to be important in the\nunderstanding of global warming.
