(Ekwil - 50/50 Joint Venture between Technip Energies and SBM Offshore) are pleased to announce that they have been jointly awarded a Feasibility Study contract by a Japanese domestic developer to assess the viability of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine (FOWT) project in a designated sea area in Japan. The study will leverage the complementary strengths of both companies, with Chiyoda leading project coordination and Ekwil contributing with its specialized floating structure design expertise.\n \n \n \n Chiyoda will serve as the main contractor, overseeing the overall project coordination, including planning for fabrication, transportation, storage, installation, and the development of a domestic supply chain for the floater. The company will also evaluate regulatory compliance in Japan. Ekwil will play a key role in the design of the floating structures, utilizing its proprietary semi-submersible floating technology.\n \n \n \n Chiyoda and Ekwil have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), granting the opportunity to collaborate first on floating structures based on Ekwil Technologies. (For details, please refer to the related articles*1). The design of the floating structures for this project will be jointly promoted based on the semi-submersible floating technology from Ekwil. This project marks the second engagement for a different developer, following the press release*2issued on December 20, 2023, concerning the business for the Japanese domestic market, which was conducted with Technip Energies (headquartered in France).\n \n \n \n Chiyoda have a wealth of experience in EPC for renewable energy-related facilities and petrochemical/LNG receiving terminals in Japan. Chiyoda have been accumulated knowledge by bottom-fixed offshore wind turbine project in Japan since 2018 and have successfully completed multiple basic design projects.
