[{"type":"text","content":"The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and China Eastern\nAirlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen\nMorocco’s economic ties with the Asian tourism market, MAP\nreported on July 1. \nONMT and China Eastern believe the partnership is a strategic\nalliance that opens Morocco to one of the world’s most dynamic and\nhigh-potential outbound tourism markets.\nThe signing ceremony was attended by Moroccan Tourism Minister\nFatim Zahra Ammor, ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda, and China\nEastern Airlines President Wang Zhinqing.\nThe agreement aims to launch a joint marketing strategy to\npromote Morocco in the Chinese market and organise press trips and\njoint promotional actions. It also looks forward to improving air\nconnectivity between China and Morocco and boosting Morocco’s\nposition as a top tourist destination for Chinese travellers.\nAmmor said the deal is part of Morocco’s effort to diversify its\ntourism markets and strengthen its presence in Asia. ONMT’s\nlong-term plan is to attract at least 1mn Chinese tourists by\n2030.\nIn January 2025, China Eastern launched a Shanghai–Casablanca\nroute via Marseille, and in October 2025, a new direct\nShanghai–Casablanca route is expected to begin with three flights\nper week. The moves complement the existing Beijing–Casablanca\nroute operated by Royal Air Maroc.\nTourist arrivals to Morocco surged 22% year-on-year (y/y) to\n7.2mn visitors in the first five months of 2025, MAP\nreported late June, citing data from the Ministry of Tourism,\nHandicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy. The agency said\nthat the Moroccan government is actively working on collaborations\nwith global travel agencies and airlines to sustain tourism\ngrowth.\nThe tourism sector in Morocco is expected to grow further with\nupcoming events such as the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030\nFIFA World Cup (jointly with Spain and Portugal). The Moroccan\ngovernment has been working to upgrade air connectivity and tourism\ninfrastructure in a bid to attract 26mn tourists by 2030.© 2025 bne IntelliNews, source Magazine","length":3019,"tagName":"div"}]
