[{"type":"text","content":"\n Angle PLC\n27 July 2006\n\n\nFor Immediate Release 27 July 2006\n\n\n ANGLE plc\n\n ('ANGLE' or 'the Company')\n\n 20 year strategic partnership with The University of Reading\n\n\nANGLE plc ('ANGLE'), the venture management and consulting company specialising\nin the commercialisation of technology, is pleased to announce that it has\nsigned a 20 year strategic partnership with The University of Reading \n('University').\n\nUnder the terms of the agreement, ANGLE has the exclusive right of first refusal\nto invest in all University intellectual property (IP) that is commercialised.\nWhere ANGLE exercises this right, it will invest under a set formula obtaining\nan equity stake of 60% in each spin-out company for an investment of up to £0.5\nmillion. ANGLE will drive development of these ventures utilising its\nproprietary Progeny(R) process.\n\nAdditionally, ANGLE will receive a 15% share in all commercial returns from\nUniversity IP, both licensing and spin-out, in which ANGLE does not invest. In\nexchange, ANGLE will provide consultancy support to the University on IP\ncommercialisation.\n\nIn total, ANGLE expects to invest at least £3.0 million over the first five\nyears of the agreement and expects that this will be funded from existing\nresources.\n\nThe University has income of more than £150 million per annum and over 1,000\nacademic staff. The most recent government Research Assessment Exercise rated\ntwenty of its departments as 5 or 5*, denoting international excellence in\nresearch activity. This excellence is found in areas as diverse as climate\nphysics, fluid dynamics and food biosciences, the latter of which is ideally\nplaced as the global market for functional foods grows towards an estimated $95\nbillion per annum by 2010. In addition, the University's Instrumentation &\nSignal Processing Research Group and Cybernetic Intelligence Research Group both\npossess not only high international reputations but also strong histories of\nproducing groundbreaking, commercial technologies.
