(NYSE, TSX: CLS), a global\n leader in the delivery of end-to-end product lifecycle solutions, today\n announced the opening of its new microelectronics laboratory at its\n headquarters in Toronto, Ontario in Canada. The new facility will\n enable start-ups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large\n original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to quickly commercialize their\n latest ideas for miniaturizing electronics products through prototyping\n to volume production.\n\n\n\"Microelectronics is in demand for high-reliability markets such as\n healthcare, aerospace, defense, communications and renewable energy. As\n optics and photonics technologies permeate these high-reliability\n sectors, it is becoming increasingly more important to miniaturize and\n cost reduce,\" said Shawn Blakney, Senior Director, Technology and\n Innovation, Celestica. \"Smaller electronics provide the flexibility for\n lighter, portable and potentially more affordable devices, a trend that\n is already proven in the consumer market.\"\n\n\nThe unique 1100-square foot, ISO class-6 clean room is a controlled\n environment for temperature, humidity and airborne particles. The\n laboratory provides new miniaturization solutions using bare die\n packaging technologies. The goal is to reduce production costs, enhance\n signal integrity, and improve thermal performance for high-reliability\n applications.\n\n\nThe location of the laboratory is a strategic choice with Toronto being\n the largest ICT (Information, Communication and Technology) hub in\n Canada. The laboratory will significantly bolster the infrastructure\n for product enablement in Canada and may also be leveraged by global\n customers looking to commercialize a product. Start ups, SMEs as well\n as OEMs can now have quick access to talent and the technologies in\n this facility to bring electronics products to target markets quickly\n and affordably.\n\n\n\"The new microelectronics laboratory complements our existing\n capabilities in Toronto including our materials laboratory and surface\n mount technology manufacturing,\" added Blakney. \"As we look to the\n future, microelectronics will play an increasing role in techn...
