Normalized earnings attributable to common\n shareholders, after adjusting for one-time items and fair value\n adjustments was $3 million, or $0.07 per share, in the second quarter\n of 2011, compared with $1 million, or $0.05 per share, in the\n comparable period in 2010. Funds from operations, excluding\n non-controlling interests in Capital Power Income L.P. (CPILP), totaled\n $65 million in the second quarter of 2011, up 76% from $37 million in\n the second quarter of 2010. For the six-month period ending June 30,\n 2011, normalized earnings attributable to common shareholders was $14\n million, or $0.38 per share. Funds from operations excluding\n non-controlling interests in CPILP totaled $147 million compared with\n $112 million in the six-month period ending June 30, 2010.\n\n\n"Normalized net income in the second quarter of 2011 was below\n management's expectation, primarily attributable to a loss on the\n settlement of forward bond contracts used to economically hedge the\n U.S. private placement and a larger than expected adjustment to our\n pension obligation," said Capital Power's President and CEO, Brian\n Vaasjo.
