This initial contract is valued at approximately £80m with an option to extend for up to five further years, and is expected to deliver significant savings of at least £33m to TfL through efficiencies and modernisation of equipment.\n\nThe total IFRS 15 transaction price of the contract is £135m, being made up of the initial scope and term, plus a subsequent pre-priced extension. This contract, part of TfL’s Telecommunications and Data Network Strategy, will enable the consolidation of its multiple outsourced contracts into a single, pan-TfL network service contract. It will reduce costs, ensure the ongoing security and reliability of business-critical services, and accelerate time to market for new services across TfL’s London data network.\n\nUnder the contract, Capita will transition existing services, undertake a large-scale technical refresh, simplify the complex network infrastructure and operate, monitor and maintain the new network infrastructure. As part of this, the equipment used to provide free public WiFi across the London Underground network will be reviewed and refreshed. This will help allow even more people to connect more quickly and check their emails, plan their journeys and stay in contact while on the move.\n\nJonathan Lewis, Chief Executive Officer, Capita plc, said: “Our extensive networking solutions expertise and track record of undertaking large-scale critical network implementations for clients means we are well equipped to support the consolidation of TfL’s data network. We look forward to fully supporting TfL as they consolidate, transform and upscale their network services, essential to supporting mission critical data services across the London transport network.â€\n\nShashi Verma, Chief Technology Officer at TfL said: \"This new five-year contract will help consolida...
